Formosa Taiwanese Snacks (台湾风味馆)@ Asian Avenue Sunway Pyramid

Sunday - Formosa Taiwanese Stall

We passed by this Taiwanese stall a few times and decided to give a try. It's located just beside Pommes Frites Bistro. It serves variety of Taiwanese main dishes in sets and ala carte, snacks and drinks.

  Set menu

Set A to Set D are RICE set.
Set E to Set G are NOODLES set.
Set H is Special Set which is SNACKS.
Set I is Economic Set ( Braised Sauce Rice, Braised Egg & Tofu, Choice of Drink).

In every Main Sets, there are different type of small sets in side to suit everyone appetite.

Both of us choose Set B which is Hot Crispy Chicken Set, we ordered full set ( Hot Crispy Chicken, Braised sauce rice, Braised Egg & Tofu, Choice of Drink).  We ordered our food and pay at the cashier and the staffs served our food and drinks within 10mins.

Our Choice of Drink - Grass Jelly Milk Tea & Honeydew Bubble Tea. Taste okay.

Our food was served! Hot Crispy Chicken Set (RM14)

Rice with braised sauce, braised egg and tofu. The rice mixed with the slightly sweet braised sauce was awesome. Braised tofu and egg were okay, taste slightly sweet instead of salty. Not bad.

This pipping hot Crispy Fried Chicken was alike SHILIN Fried Chicken, but this is bigger and thicker meat. It's juicy, crispy but lack of enough flavour, perhaps because of the marination process/spices. Overall, it taste okay.

Customers are non stop queueing at the counter, so normally here will be crowded during lunch and dinner time. The set was really worth the money we paid. Gonna try their other sets on my next visit to Sunway Pyramid!

Pommes Frites Bistro @ Asian Avenue Sunway Pyramid

Malaysian Ringgit currency has dropped tragically. Thus, we were going to have some VALUE FOR MONEY meal, which is delicious and with quality. Last Saturday, Kenny wanted to eat his favourite pasta at Pommes Frites Bistro @ Sunway Pyramid. It was located at Asian Avenue, the food street!

Pommes Frites is located at Asian Avenue of Sunway Pyramid. It serves Pasta, Belgian Fries, Mussels and Snacks.

Seafood Aglio Olio (RM12.90). Big portion and generous amount of fresh seafood. Spaghetti was lightly sautéed by minced garlic, chilli flakes and olive oil, it's springy and garlicly fragrant when you were eating it. The seafood (mussels, clams, squids and prawn) was fresh and seasoned well.

Spaghetti Marinara (RM12.90). Thumb up. Marinara sauce was awesome, cooked tomatoes, onions and carrot cubes were soft, perfect sour taste and it's more to soup based, my favorite. Seafood (Clams, squids, mussel and prawns) was well cooked and fresh, taste good together with the sauce. Can you see the medium size of prawn on top of the spaghetti? Definitely worth the price we paid.

Devil Chicken Spaghetti (RM 15.90). Generous portion of smells great spaghetti which was sautéed by minced garlic, chilli flakes and herbs, topped with chicken chop. The chicken chop was tasty and tenderly cooked with minced garlic and herbs. Delicious!

The environment is okay, stalls with limited table and seats, not convenience to serve larger group.

Update on my last visit on 4th September'15, I decided to try something new - Salmon Carbonara Fettuccini while Kenny ordered Seafood Marinara.

Salmon Carbonara Fettuccini (RM 15.90). Fettuccini and Carbonara sauce was good, slightly cheesy savoury and not too creamy, my personal preference style. LOL. While 2 pieces salmon fillet taste a little bit odd, perhaps the way they marinated it or it's freshness matter.

We paid our visit frequently, almost once per week. It's the first time we encountered their seafood freshness matters and Kenny did feedback this matter to staff and they said will take note about this matter.

Sausage and Ribs Shack @ Taman Midah - Visit after GST

Halo guys! I can't resist pay another visit to Sausage and Ribs Shack at Taman Midah, Cheras. Yes I did blog this restaurant 2 months ago (before GST), and this visit surprised me which their price still remained the same as last time, no impose on GST.

BBQ Spanish Pork Spare Ribs (Half Rack) (RM38)

Both of my friends thumb up for this signature dish. The marinated overnight Spare Ribs was sweet, juicy, tender and flavourful! The standard was remaining the same as my first visit. A must order!

**REMEMBER to place your reservation for ribs at least a day earlier to avoid disappointment!

Thin Crust Pizza w Pineapple and Chicken (RM20). Crusty, juicy, flavourful and cheesy combination. Taste a lot better than others restaurant. Sinfully delicious! Yum!

Homemade Sausage Platter (350g mix) (RM35). Coming with Mustard sauce and mashed potatoes. This signature dish WOW my friends. The sausages was super duper delicious, juicy, springy and flavourful. The meat essence was flowing out when we cut the sausage. Do try to eat the sausage together with the sweet juicy grilled onion slices, create another taste impact.

Mashed Potatoes - Not in menu, available prior request. (RM5)

Remember this mashed potatoes I mentioned before? This fine, smooth and fragrant mashed potatoes was HUHA WALAO by my friends.

My friend said that Sausage and Ribs Shack was alike a Private Kitchen, serving quality homemade food. I am happy that their food quality was still remain the standard as my previous visits. The chef was humble and serve the dishes by himself  ( only If you go early and not yet crowded). =)

Do grab some raw sausages if you want to cook on your own which they were selling in restaurant too!

ThatLattePlace @ IKON Connaught

Last Friday, We went to That Latte Place at IKON Connaught to celebrate our colleague birthday. It's located at Level G, beside Spring berry Bakery / Digi Center.

TLP was serving western food with quite reasonable varieties, big breakfast, egg benedict, sandwiches, croissants, tortilla wraps and desserts. They were offering Late lunch promo at 2pm till 6pm daily, Carbonara/ Pancake/ Omelette with a choice of drinks.

Self service - Proceed to counter and make order. Pick up cutlery, sauces, sky juice, seasoning on your own.

House Egg Ben (RM19). Poached eggs, bacon, mushrooms, signature hollandaise sauce, salad, potatoes and homemade toast. The sautéed mushroom was sleeping on crispy fluffy homemade toast,  perfectly cooked poached eggs was tender, hollandaise sauce was slightly salty while perfectly roasted potatoes cube was crispy. The only thing to improve is their hollandaise sauce to prefect this dish.

Porky Sandwich (RM15). Pork patty, cheese, toast, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, fries on side. Thumb up for the crispy fluffy and buttery fragrant toast, the homemade pork patty was juicy and flavourful while the fries was perfectly fried. NICE!
Chic Fajita Wrap (RM13). Chicken strips, walnuts, melon seeds, lettuce, capsicums, homemade dressing, fries on side. A rich combination in the wrap with delicious fries, taste wise but the portion was too small.

Nutella Banana Pancake (RM13). 3 pcs of fluffy pancake with Nutella spread, topped with banana, nuts and honey. The pancake was good match with the honey and toppings, but the Nutella taste odd. Personally I think if the Nutella change to Chocolate spread, this desserts will be awesome. ;)

The food here was simply awesome. The price shown on the menu was included 6% GST and no Service Tax charge.

Ah Yip Herbal Soup @ Cheras Sentral

Today, we went to Ah Yip Herbal Soup for lunch. Didn't expect they changed their menu and charges...

Soup of the day set lunch meal was not available anymore.

BEFORE: Salted vege stew duck soup & braised chicken w black fungus (RM 13.90)

BEFORE: Salted vege stew duck soup & braised duck w ginger (RM 13.90)

When we stepped into restaurant, we were notified that they changed their menu. No more everyday soup set meal.

Herbal egg (RM 1.50)

Ginger duck noodles, coming with peanuts and honey drinks (RM 18.90). Noodles and braised ginger duck were not nice as last time. Didn't manage to finish this.

Mushroom minced meat rice, Salted vege stew duck soup, peanuts and honey drinks (RM 16.90)

Mushroom minced meat rice was awesome, fragrant rice topped with generous amount of well braised mushroom and chicken dices.

But this Salted vege stew duck soup was disappointed us. The taste was so much different from our previous visits. It taste like stink water, we enquired the staffs and she claimed that the recent batch of salted vege bought from suppliers was too salty. In fact, the salted vege taste alike the salted vege has mildew. Personally thought that if the main ingredient was not up to the standard, why still cooked and served it to customer? The cost is much more important than restaurant image? I requested to change this soup as this soup seriously smell and taste weird.

Replaced with dried cabbage stew chicken soup. Taste weird too. Perhaps because of the preserved vege supplies?

Braised duck drumstick noodles in herbal soup, coming with herbal jelly and honey drinks (RM23.90). Herbal soup taste wise. The duck meat taste weird, not sure it's because of not fresh or the way they handle it when cooking.

The total bill was RM 71.35, totally not worth the price we paid. This visit might be our last visit as their food quality and taste dropped too much.

BKK Trip Part 5 - Mont Nomsod, Pier 21 Food Terminal, Khanum Bueang & McD Chicken Ham Pie

1. Mont Nomsod

Kenny's cousin brought us to one of the oldest bakery café in Bangkok -  A 50 years bakery shop which famous with it's Toasted Bread. It's mainly visit by local as their toasts, desserts and drinks are quite affordable. Their signature toasted bread is made with fresh milk instead of water, that's the reason why their bread was extraordinary soft and fluffy. Choose your preference topping for toasted bread, the best seller here - Traditional Butter Sugar, Condense Milk and Kaya.

2. Khanum Bueang @ MBK Center

Popular street food - Thai Crepe topped with coconut cream, sweet and savoury topping such as shredded coconut, raisin, Foy-Tong (egg yolks boiled in syrup) or chopped scallions. It's thin, crispy and with juicy interior.

We were shopped at MBK Center and accidentally found this famous local desserts. We bought few to try as in with and without coconut cream. The small round crepe was crispy, while the generous amount of coconut cream was very sweet and creamy, the shredded coconut and Foy-Tong was very sweet too. Cant manage to finish it. =(

 10 THB per piece

3. Chicken Ham Pie @ McD Siam Paragon

This Chicken Ham Crusty Pie taste so good. Inside the pie is tomato based sauce with chicken ham! Only costs 29 THB. Why this flavour not available in Malaysia??!

4. Pier 21 Food Terminal @ Terminal 21

We came Terminal 21 by took BTS Sukhumvit Line from Phleon Chit to Asok after pray at Erawan Shrine.

Terminal 21 is a one floor one theme shopping mall, having a total of 9 stories. The concept of this mall is market streets of the world. It's decorated based on well known streets in cities such as Caribbean(LG), Rome(G), Paris(M), Tokyo(1st Floor), London(2nd Floor), Istanbul(3rd Floor), San Francisco(4th & 5th Floor) & Hollywood(6th Floor) . This mall has the longest escalators in Thailand, up to 36 metres! Worth mentioning that Tao Kae Noi Land shop was here!

Pork Knuckle Rice (45 THB). Multigrain rice served with a little portion of pork knuckle, salted egg and vege. The small pieces of meat was mmm... unsatisfactory.

Thai version of shaved ice. Nam Kang Sai and water chestnut in coconut milk (25 THB each). Tate wise. Prefer Nam Kang Sai because it's toppings were good, perfect sweetness.

Mango sticky rice (35 THB). A mango and sticky rice with coconut milk. The perfect sweetness of coconut milk on top of warm sticky rice. Thumb up. Perhaps here was the most economical price of Mango sticky rice desserts in BKK.

Not to forget to grab this Number One Brand Milk Tea at Gourmet Market (LG Floor) before leaved Terminal 21!!!
