We had our dinner at Seashells Chenang @ Laman Padi after Island Hopping. Seashells Chenang located at Pantai Chenang, opposite Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort.
Entrance
When we stepped into entrance, we were WAO by the decoration, surrounding and ambiance. Seashells Chenang maintaining the Malay Kampung ambiance, inherits the Sawah Padi (Paddy Field) of Kedah Influence.
You can choose to have table seat or on top of the pavilion (Pondok Atap) floor seat.
We choose to have seat on top the pavilion in between the rice field.
Menu. Seashells Chenang serving Nasi Periuk Kukus Platter with variety of the choices such as Lamb Shank, Chicken, Beef Rendang and Fish Sea-bass.

No air-cond but fan available. It's quite windy that day. We feel so natural and basic to have our food by sitting on floor and standing fan.
Paddy field view on night time.
Apple + Orange + Carrot (RM 25 Per Jug). Taste refreshing and no sugar added. Thumb up.
Nasi Periuk Kukus Betis Kambing (Lamb Shank). 3 person portion RM65.00
Rendang Lamb Shank coming with steamed rice, salted egg, onion soup, cracker, deep fried potato cake, fried bean curd, local style salad and sambal belacan.
Lamb Shank. The rendang taste good but sadly the main character of this meal was a failure. Part of the lamb shank was burnt and overcooked.Too dried to swallow.
Steamed rice was good and fragrant. Topped with shallots.
Sambal belacan was good too. Taste authentic. Thumb up!
My plate of rice. Some fragrant steamed rice with salted egg, raw cabbage, un-burnt lamb meat, cracker and topped with onion soup. Authentic kampung style plate of rice and sides.
Walking among the paddy field. Accompanied by insects chirps.
The map of Laman Padi. They have hotel (The Gemalai) too!
We do enjoy our dinner and fruit juice at paddy field with very calm, relaxing and natural feelings. Staffs were polite. The food was authentic kampung style Malay dishes. Unfortunately the main dish (lamb shank) was a NONO and food was not hot.
Food quality and service speed has a big room for improvement. Hopefully they can maintain this unique restaurant by not only attracting customer by interior and view, but the food, which play the most important role for a restaurant.
Overall, it's a rare dining experience we can get in the city or other tourist spot. You should come to experience it.
