Matsumiya Japanese Artisan Bakery @ Taman Molek, Johor Bahru

As a bread lover, me, saw a bakery - Matsumiya, right opposite The Brew Orchestra when we were leaving.. I headed to the bakery without second thought. =D

Matsumiya Japanese Artisan Bakery started its business in Taman Molek, Johor Bahru since November 2013. Kumi Kasuta, the Japanese wife of bakery owner, was the only baker of Matsumiya that developed her own style of bread and introduce Japanese bread to Malaysian.

Matsumiya, dedicated by the name of the owner's first born - a small bakery-cum-Japanese savory pancake (Okonomiyaki) shop was set up in a Chita, Aichi prefecture in Japan about 40 years ago.

Based on the friendly owner, Mr.Simon introduction, their bakery dedicated to make best quality bread by using fine ingredients. All bread are kneaded, shaped and baked each day in the bakery.

Small scale yet compact bakery. The choices of bread was reasonable, mostly Japanese style. Besides, they were selling some Japanese products too!

The price tag was written in Japanese and English. Upon making our hard decision among all the tempting breads, Mr. Simon was strongly recommended their Signature bread - Celeb Bites Special, decided to give a try. Besides, we bought Heidi Macha Anpan, Anpan and Dorayaki too.

Da Lang! Excited to try!

Dorayaki (RM 2.40). Available in Red Bean and Chocolate. I choose Red Bean flavor! Their red bean paste filling was awesomeee! There's a lot whole red bean in red bean paste instead of mashed, it's sweetness was just nice. While the two small pancake-like patties was fluffy yet firm. Thumb up!

The signature Celeb Bites Special (RM 4.80). Crunchy outside and chewy inside. The small piece of whole wheat bread was compact filling by generous portion of Raspberries, walnut and cream cheese. The ingredients was well matched and worth the price you pay, but nothing to shout about, it's alike energy bar.

Anpan is Japanese bread which raising the dough with the traditional sakadane liquid yeast and filled the bread with red bean paste.

Heidi Macha Anpan (RM 3.90). Japanese sweet bun filled with Red bean and Macha cream cheese. I have to say this bread was completely conquered my heart. The fluffy bread filled with delicious red bean paste which consisted whole red bean instead of only mashed red bean paste, well matched with Macha Cream Cheese! Perfect combination!

Anpan (RM 2.90). Classic Japanese Red bean Bun. Fluffy bread filled with generous portion of my favorite red bean paste style! Yum!

Overall, we were satisfied and happy with our newly discovered bakery's bread. Quality and delicious  authentic Japanese bread. Definitely will come back to Matsumiya when my another visit to Johor Bahru.

"Good bread doesn't lie. It says everything about the quality of its ingredients and the know-how of its creator" - Kumi Kasuta, baker of Matsumiya.

Couldn't agreed more about her said, which imply on bread and food.
