COCO.TEI Tokyo Japanese Cuisine (Last day operation on 15/2/2016) (Relocation to Hotel Holiday Inn Express)

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR & HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!

We celebrated our Valentine's Day and had dinner at Coco.Tei Japanese Cuisine Restaurant. Coco.Tei which is always my No.1 choice for Japanese Cuisine, credit to it's fresh and quality ingredient.

Coco Tei Japanese Cuisine Restaurant, which formally known as Hajime Restaurant, reopened in year 2011 located in the heart of KL continues to serve fresh and authentic Japanese fine dining with a fusion of traditional and modern.

Coco Tei Restaurant was open space and well decorated with wooden logs and stone interior.  At Coco.Tei, you can dine either at the bar or tatami seating.

We reached around 7.30pm and didn't make reservation that day. It's fully booked! Luckily we get our seats at the bar.

Sitting in front of chefs and enjoy by looking at the preparation of sashimi and sushi in professional way.

5 bottles of marinates plums!

We immediately served by Green Tea & menu. Time to make order!

Green Tea. Complimentary. FOC. More to plain yet aromatic flavor which required in Japanese Cuisine ( so you can taste every bite of sushi / cuisine ingredients).

Dinnerware.

Sweet sauce & soy sauce.

Garlic Fried Rice (RM 8). Thumb up to it's flavorful and garlic fragrance. Perfectly done.

Salmon Maki (RM 10).  Fresh salmon bites melted in my mouth!

I have to highlight that their WASABI is added with some sugar if i am not mistaken ( to decrease hot level and bring out the food freshness taste).

Onigiri Ume (Plum) (RM 6). Plum Onigiri. Salty sweet homemade plum sauce on top of Onigiri. We expect there's a plum inside this Onigiri but it's only plum sauce. Too much plum sauce for our liking.

Coco Maki (RM 38). My favorite. Deep fried tuna fish with bread crumb, topping with eel and flying fish roe with special garlic and spicy sauce.

Crispy fried tuna fish wrapped in seaweed and rice roll, topping with a slice of grilled eel and popping fish roe. Perfect combination.

EVA FOOD DIARY

California Cheese Maki (RM 28). Eel and cheese topping California roll with special sauce. A MUST AND MOST WORTHY ORDER!

LOOK AT THOSE THICK SLICES GRILLED EEL! It's so fresh, perfect proportion of fats and meat melting in my mouth!

Classic California Roll ( Yummy!!) covered with fresh popping flying fish roe. Feel so good when fish roe popping in my mouth while chewing refreshing California roll. I am happy gal!

EVA FOOD DIARY

Hand me the California Cheese Maki and no one get hurt! =D

EVA FOOD DIARY

CocoTei Lady's Set (RM 55). Sashimi, Deep Fried Dish, Steamed Dish, Grilled Dish, Sushi Roll, Soba, Relish, Salad & Chawanmushi.

Beautiful and unsophisticated decoration. Sashimi betwixt 7 small proportion dishes in rattan basket. Coming with chawanmushi and salad. Proportion was just perfect for a lady appetite.

Chawanmushi. Super duper smooth and fragrant. Love the mushroom on top!

Salad. Appetizer! Taste wise.

Sashimi!!! Salmon, tuna, hamachi & butterfish. Absolute fresh and melting in mouth!

EVA FOOD DIARY

Grilled dish of the day. Grilled Saba Fish. Fresh and covered by delicious teriyaki sauce! Note that Saba fish has many tiny bone, be careful when you eat it!

Maki and Natto. I don't like this maki because of rice was too soft. Natto was ok, forget about it if you can't take strong flavor of fermented soybean.

Fried dish of the day - Fried little chicken drumstick. Taste normal.

Soba - Thumb up. Yummy!

Relish - Some kind of chicken salad.

Last but not least. Steamed dish - steamed chicken. Broth was super nice, concentrate and sweet!

The master chef.

The ambiance, decoration and food here were real, unsophisticate and nothing pretentious.  Scrumptious food at high quality and fresh with reasonable prices charge.

Coco Tei also provides extensive collection of sake and alcohol drinks imported from Japan!

When the bill came, the staff told us that the day we paid visit (Valentine's Day, 14th Feb 2016) was last 2nd day they operating their business here!!! 15th Feb 2016 will be the last day they operate at Jalan Delima, KL. Such a waste for this beautiful place!

HEY... But don't worry... They will continue to serve authentic yummy Japanese Cuisine around mid-March 2016, relocate to HOTEL HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS.

The decoration at entrance

Last memory of Coco.Tei which I had been paid my visit for 5 years (From studied in Uni till working now). So many memories here =(

Can't wait for the re-open of Coco.Tei on March 2016!

Ah Fa Chinese Restaurant 发記招牌特色烤鱼 @ Pudu, KL

Recently there's a famous Seafood Hotpot stall - Ah Fa Chinese Restaurant, opening beside the roadside of Jalan Seladang, Pudu.

We drove to Ah Fa Chinese Restaurant last 2 weeks for dinner with friends. A long queue waiting to be seated and order food. After an hour queue, finally a group of table left and someone walked over to the table. WAIT again...... Customer wait to be seated and take order gotta be improving.

The environment there was dark and smelly drain (if you sitting opposite the stall), you have to use your smartphone torchlight while eating.

We waited for 2 hours and the people who arrived later than us were started to eat... But we were still WAITING... We asked the lady boss so many times whether our food is ready and she said it's preparing... Ended up with she wrote our order to another table number.... =.= She apologized and took our order and it arrived in 15 mins.

The Menu.

Choose from Roast Fish Hotpot (RM 38) / Seafood Hotpot - Prawns, Squid & Clams (RM 88)Roasted Fish Head plus Seafood Hotpot (RM 99). Opt for your preference level of spiciness.

They serving other side dishes such as vege, egg and BBQ Pork.

We a group of 5 people ordered a Signature 3 fresh with Grilled Song Yu Fish Head Hotpot, adding on Enoki Mushroom. Opted from 6 level spiciness and we choose B for safety purpose. =p

DALANG!!! Our 3 hour 15 mins waiting time dinner. Signature 3 fresh with Grilled Song Yu Fish Head Hotpot ( RM 99). We were excited when looking at the generous portion ( We were super hungry =.=).

A portable stove placed on our table and followed by a tray. There were 4 pcs big head prawn, squid, clams and a Song Yu Fish head.

The broth was consisted of Hunan preserved chilli, dried chilli, tomatoes, picked vege, garlic, leeks and radish with additional order RM6 Enoki Mushroom. When my first sipped, the broth was so spicy and chocked. But after a few more sip, it started out spicy with sour, pretty delicious and addictive.

Fresh seafood

According to lady boss, she's from Hunan and her husband (CHEF) is Malaysian Chinese. Can clearly be seen on this influence of broth.

We ordered 10 drinks, guys have lower tolerance of spiciness, they sweated like sauna-ing. LOL

Conclusion, it's quite value for money and delicious broth with fresh seafood. However, first come first serve basis and customer to be seat have to improve.

Our second visit last weekend (30/1/2016)!

In the middle of yumcha, someone said hungry and craved for Ah Fa'S Hotpot. Thus, we drove to Pudu for Ah Fa's Hotpot around 12 midnight......

No queue needed and we choose for a bright seat which was outside the stall.

We ordered Roasted Jing Feng Fish Hotpot this time with adding on Enoki Mushroom. Spiciness level we choose B.

Fish was fresh and the broth was awesome.

Recommend Roast Fish Hotpot if 2 people sharing or not a seafood fans.
