Johor Trip PT1 - Johor Premium Outlet, Absolute Thai & Singapore Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge

Woohoo... Time to relax a bit. Went to Johor and Singapore for 3D2N short trip during Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday... =D

Day 1

We departed at 6am morning and drove long journey, around 4hrs, from KL to Johor Premium Outlets, located at Kulaijaya, Johor. We reached around 9.50am, surprisingly quite many cars parked at car park already. Get ourselves a VIP Shopper club membership at Customer Service Center, but the vouchers given was not attractive/really useful.

 Directory

There's 130 premium outlet stores which selling their products at lower price or at discounted price compared to boutique, but most of the stores are selling old stocks but not current new products.

Favorite brand, Ferragamo.

Bag from Kate Spade.

While waiting my friend at Hackett London. Impressive interior country design with super comfy couch.

Selfie while nothing to do... =D

The result of half day shopping at JPO. Nike clothes and shoes, Estee Lauder Modern Muse and Clinique skin care. The cosmetic selling here was quite cheap, around 40% cheaper price, but selected brand with selected products.

My friends were craving for Thai Cuisine, thus, we settled our lunch at Absolute Thai, located right beside Nike Stores.

The atmosphere was nice and staffs were attentive too. Not crowded during lunch hour, perhaps the price here was above average.

Menu

Quite wide variety of choices on the menu, all seems so tempting and gastronomic! We ordered Seafood Tomyum, Green Curry Chicken and Stir Fried Minced Chicken. The waiting time was quite reasonable, around 20 to 30mins... Here comes our dishes arrived on our table!!! Starving!!

Red Seafood Tom Yam Soup (2 pax) (RM 29.50). It's served in firepot and smells great! Taste authentic Thai Tom Yam, sour and mild in the first place but spicy on throat, stomach was burning! The seafood got fresh Medium size prawns, squids and fish fillets. The soup taste strong aroma of herbs and lemongrass, hot and spicy, nice.

Green Curry Chicken (RM 17.90). Tender chicken slices in the mild, flavorful with spices and smooth green curry. I love this dish so much!

Stir Fried Minced Chicken (RM 17.90). Tender minced chicken stir fried with basil leaves, chilies and sauce. Flavorful and slightly spicy.

Overall, the above dishes was delicious and satisfying, price were slightly pricey. Quality food come with a price. =)

Night time, we queued at Woodland, Johor - Singapore Causeway... Traffic was still okay.

We had Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge as dinner. It's quite crowded and long waiting time.  We ordered 3 frog cooked in 3 different style - Porridge, Stir fried w ginger onion & Gong Bo.

Frog Porridge. The portion was okay. Porridge texture was thick instead of watery, taste plain. Frog meat was tender. We mixed the Gong Bo & Ginger onion sauce with porridge to add some flavor.

Giong Cong (Ginger Onion) Stir Fried Frog. Portion was small since it's only 1 frog. The sauce taste slightly sweet, alike soy sauce. Kinda nice.

Gong Bo Stir Fried Frog. This is their signature according to their staff. It's flavorful and spicy. Taste wise.

Fried Chicken in Lemon & Thai Style. Fried chicken was ordinary, crunchy outside and tender inside. Taste good but i would say it's just average.

After some walk walk see see, time to rest and ready for Day 2 explore!

Melaka Food Explore PT 3 - Buffet Breakfast@Hotel Puri, 黄祥威饼家, Klebang Coconut Shake

Woke up in the morning and had our complimentary buffet breakfast!

 Hotel Puri Cafe

The interior design of cafe is simple, tradition and oldies type. We choose outdoor seat at the garden to have some fresh breeze.

There was delicious pipping hot scrambled egg and fried egg cook upon order.

The buffet breakfast has quite reasonable varieties to choose from... Breads and cakes, Cocktail sausage, Hash Brown, Bread pudding, Fried Mee, etc.. They were delicious!

 Breads and curry puffs

 Sunny side egg with toast

 Omelette

After fulfilled our stomach with yummy breakfast, we checked out hotel and explored some heritage streets nearby Jonker Street.

6. 黄祥威饼家

Da Lang! We found this shop that's selling traditional Chinese biscuits in traditional way during our exploration.

Every decoration and displays was so oldies which hardly can be found in the city nowadays. They were selling Heong Peng, Kong Soh Peng, Sesame Stick, Candy Biscuits, Peanuts Candy etc.

.

Bought Traditional Peanut Candy (Gong Tong) (RM 3.00), Gula Tarik (RM 3.00), Gong Soh Peng (RM1.50) & Steamed Soft Cake Biscuits (RM4).

Everything taste so traditional and rough, rather than fine processed food. Gong Soh Biscuits was powdery, sweet and soft cake type biscuits, I like this.

Gula Tarik was made from Gula Melaka, coconut and sesame. It's sweet and chewy. Try to pull it as long as you can while you eating!

Steamed Soft Cake biscuits was special. The soft steamed soft cake covered with a layer of biscuits. Crispy, soft, chewy and sweet in a bite.

Traditional Peanut Candy was awesome. One of my childhood favorite snack! The powdery, flaky and sweet peanuts candy melted in my mouth once i bite it. Thumb up.

7. Herbal tea in front of Chinese Temple

It's heaven to drink icy herbal tea under on super hot sunny weather! We ordered Water Chestnuts and sugar cane. Only cost RM1.50 per packet.

Wefie at heritage street before leaving Melaka town.

8. Klebang Coconut Shake

We dropped by the famous Klebang Coconut Shake before leaving Melaka. It's so crowded, luckily we managed to secure a table.

Coconut Shake Biasa (RM1.80). Chilling coconut shake topped with a scope of Vanilla Ice Cream which blended by Coconut water with flesh, ice and Wall's Vanilla Ice Cream. Taste refreshing and sweet.

Nasi Lemak (RM1.50). A small pack of nasi lemak served with some sambal and a piece of hard boiled egg. The rice was fragrant while sambal was awesomely hot and spicy. But the portion was very small as you can finish the whole pack nasi lemak in few spoon.

Mee Goreng (RM1.30). Typical Malay style mee goreng. Taste okay.

Lekor (RM 1.00 for 3 pcs).  My all time favourite. Crispy chewy grayish fish sausage eaten with their homemade chilli. The Chilli sauce was a bit too thick, taste odd. Prefer to eat lekor only without the chili sauce.

Overall, the coconut shake and food here was average, maybe we were too high expectation since they were so famous. Anyhow, I won't hesitate to come here again for coconut shake and lekor on my next visit to Melaka.
